Illegal drug use became prevalent in the late 1960's and it continues today.
Illegal drug use is more of a problem in the U.S. than it is in other countries. The government has spent considerable resources attempting to halt the flow of illegal drugs into the country and in imprisoning sellers and users of illegal drugs.
There has not been widespread acceptance of the concept of legalizing or decriminalizing drug use.
