Overview of Homosexuality

Homosexuality has long been a prohibited behavior throughout all world societies. But that status has dramatically changed during the past three decades. Most developed world countries today not only have decriminalized homosexual conduct but have also provided same-sex couples the right to marry. This change has been accompanied by a dramatic change in public opinion.

In the United States gay marriage became official in all states because of the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court decision of Obergefell v. Hodges.

In many states homosexual individuals still face employment and other types of discrimination.
